Walking in the mountains

We look for the monks in the Himalayas, we look for books full of wisdom and knowledge, trying to look for a divine answer or perhaps salvation from our suffering or the world, but really life is so simple. And even if you find the most hidden monk meditating in a cave and wish to speak and ask many questions, whatever it is, everything resumes in two simple words: Breathing and Compassion. Now, what are we going to do with this information? This is the exciting point. We have to act. But who is willing to take action and make new habits of breathing and compassion? We wish we could help in major scales, change the world, make it a better place, give food to the poor but if we can’t be compassionate with ourselves, how can we find this feeling for others? Let’s just start from this basic place.
Let’s breathe, know our true nature, observe, why are we suffering, what are we seeking and when we understand the root of our suffering we will be able to hug ourselves and say, I’m here for you, I am the safe place you’re looking for and then go out and spread that compassion to the world. You don’t have to build a huge facility where thousands of people can come and refugee from hunger or cold. Just be loving and compassionate with one and other. With the one that’s sitting besides you in the train, with the other that’s taking their kids to school in the morning, start even with your family, which can be a whole challenge already. Then spread it to your enemies, to the people you feel aversion for, they are suffering also and if you can see this in them, you are able to feel compassion for them, when you don’t want to judge this person anymore for their mistakes, but understand their deep pain and how lost they are.
We don’t need to go so far, we don’t have to make a huge excuse out of it. “I don’t make service because I have no money” “I can’t, but oh God, how I wish I could”. There’s no need for money. Listening, giving your support, understanding, recognizing each other’s pain, making a good day for someone, so many ways and opportunities we have but we’re so busy in our daily life. Start inside, love yourself, love your efforts to be better and have compassion when you’ve mistaken. Next time you’ll do it better. Be patient, understand your behaviors and change them if they’re not aligned with a higher good for yourself and the world around you.
Play the game of life, be the creator of your play and enjoy the creation. Start one day, breathing, being more kind with yourself, smile and look at you like a mother to its child, encourage yourself to do better every day. As we master this, we will be compassionate with our coworkers, our neighbors, our community and this will make a massive impact into each other and one day, it will become a big snow ball of wholesome actions and deeds that started out of one day that you decided to spread a little love and kindness with someone. We lose nothing trying.
